1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation:

Whip cream until almost stiff. Add sugar and vanilla; beat until cream holds [...]

Taste of Late Summer: Blueberry Crumble – Chef’s Blade

I made this one last Saturday night, but I only used 1 cup of blueberries and half the other ingredients. It was absolutely wonderful! Just wish I had some vanilla ice cream to go with!!

Ingredients

6 c blueberries (or any summer fruit, cut finely)
¾ c flour plus 1 tbsp

Chocolate Mint Cookies Recipe

Here’s an old recipe, I don’t even know where I got it. I found it in my little recipe box handwritten on a slip of paper. I’ve never even tried it till today, but the cookies did turn out fantastic!!

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 [...]

Pancakes!! An emergency recipe!

This morning we got up and had a sudden urge for pancakes! Well, we didn’t have our usual mix in the cupboard (Hodgson Mills Organic BTW) so I had to come up with a recipe. Trying to rack my memory (always a dubious exercise) I found a little slip of paper in my recipe box with this one on [...]

Apricot Berry Cobbler Recipe – Simply Recipes

My friend Suzanne has been coming over a lot recently, helping my mother and me raid my next door neighbor Pat’s Blenheim apricot tree (with Pat’s blessing of course). Suzanne has 3 growing teenagers to feed, so she can put those apricots to work! This week she walked me through her steps of [...]

Giant Sugar Cookies – Joy the Baker

You know what? You deserve a break. Seriously. It’s Saturday. Let’s take it easy.

I know… I know. You have that whole list of things to do. Sure, you need to get the car washed. Yes, there’s that thing about going to the pet store, and getting [...]

Flourless Honey Almond Cake Recipe

Honey and almonds flavor this simple (and gluten-free) cake. It’s lovely for afternoon tea or a spring holiday dessert. [...]

Frosted Strawberry Pound Cake Recipe

A layer cake is a very popular “special occasion” dessert. Strawberries and cream cheese I prefer to use more cream cheese over the top then put the strawberries sliced over the frosting. In between layers, I prefer the diced [...]

Apple Crisp Recipe

This is my all time favorite dessert when made right! I do like a caramel flavoring with it but haven’t been able to find a way to add caramel flavoring in a healthy manner. Caramel flavored extract was how I used to do it, I’d add it to the flour [...]

Molten Chocolate Cakes Recipe

I haven’t made this one in a long time! My inherited mixer died in the early 80’s I think and never got replaced ( what was any good was way more than I had to spend and then the urgency wore off ). Coreen has never had this (as far as I could tell although her grandfather I’m told was a great baker) and I’m not sure if Ellen (my 2nd) did either! I’ve also lost my ramekins so I can’t do this one [...]
