LOS ANGELES – Gidget the Chihuahua, the bug-eyed, big-eared star of 1990s Taco Bell commercials who was a diva on and off the screen, has died. She was 15.
Gidget suffered a massive stroke late Tuesday night at her trainer’s home in Santa Clarita and had to be euthanized, said Karin McElhatton, owner of Studio Animal Services in Castaic, which owned the dog.

Having artificial sweeteners is bad enough, but here’s an article with another good reason for bottled water!

Sewage treatment plants fail to remove artificial sweeteners completely from waste water. These pollutants contaminate waters downstream, and may still be present in your drinking water.

RIP Farrah and Michael..
(NaturalNews) That Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett both died in the last 48 hours is shocking news to many, but it’s not nearly as surprising as the fact that they were both killed by Big Pharma’s toxic drugs.

Umami, to me, is a vital flavor which makes Japanese food, well, Japanese food! This article is a great read on the subject. Gives a different sort of slant to the subject, ties “Umami” as a concept to regular everyday food which is , well..
We hear a lot about Umami these days. It is often referred to as the “so-called” fifth taste, or translated from Japanese as “tastiness” or “savoriness.”
Some people don’t believe in it. Other people say it’s the effect of monosodium glutamate, and is therefore a “flavor enhancer” rather than a taste, but that’s only correct in the sense that salt is a flavor enhancer. Unsalted mashed potatoes don’t taste like anything; the salt enhances the potato flavor. But salt is a true taste, and so is umami. – Umami: Japanese, savoriness, flavor by Evansville Courier & Press .

I usually read Mike Adams (aka The Health Ranger) articles and website regularly because he gives an outlook from a different perspective. His idea (and I tend to agree) is that there are people who are trying to get rich off other people’s diseases. Their co-defendants, the media are highlighting and pushing the “Big Pharma” agenda: “No natural healing for any of these incurable diseases” because it’s only western medicine that considers diseases like diabetes and cancer incurable. A naturopath would tell you that a diet of fruits nuts berries and leafy greens will prevent any of those things. In other words a holistic approach.
The tendency of mainstream media to look on holistic medicine as an unacceptable method had to come from somewhere. While the food industry is loading us up with chemical additives which even though with paying a fee and showing their “test results” they can get the FCC to declare them safe. Real safety comes from 50-100 years of testing, which we’ve had for some of those things but now we’re reaping the “windfall” of many of the early food aditives with (since the 60′s or so) elevated cancer rates, diabetes and obesity.
As an example High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) had become a hot button topic lately causing a “backlash” publicity campaign saying that “it’s made of corn so it must be natural”. Piffle! I just read High-fructose corn syrup – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia about HFCS and am struck with how “unnatural” the process of manufacturing this stuff really is!
The No. 1 killer of people in the next great pandemic will be, without question, ignorance of natural medicine. Those who don’t know about these natural anti-virals will literally die of ignorance, while those who understand the incredible healing power of Mother Nature’s medicine are far more likely to survive.
But it’s about more than survival: It’s also about independence. When you use natural medicine to boost your defenses, you are no longer dependant on doctors, hospitals and conventional medicine to provide you with medicine. So instead of being a victim to the military medical establishment (because the military will be involved in the distribution of vaccines, trust me…), you can instead remain independent and self-reliant. – The Five Best Anti-Viral Products to Beat Influenza, Swine Flu, Bird Flu and SARS

My country is sliding down the slippery slope of the “nanny state” against all principles of the founding fathers and the constitution. The state has taken the rights of the parents to parent away because an “expert” has pontificated that nothing but poisoning the child is the only way to “cure” cancer. What is interesting to me is that there are real treatments that are way more effective at stopping and/or curing cancers like this.
As of May 20, police around the country were on the lookout for a Minnesota mother who fled with her cancer-stricken 13 year old son rather than consent to chemotherapy.
Colleen Hauser had told a judge that she wished to treat her son’s cancer with natural healing methods advocated by an American Indian religious group known as the Nemenhah Band. - In “The Land of the Free”, is Natural Medicine One of Your Freedoms? .

This is the movie I want to see! Like most everyone else in the US I never gave two thoughts about where my food was coming from. Mad cow, salmonella in veggies (it’s an animal based pathogen) and a diabetes, cancer and obesity epidemic; all these things seem to be related.
When I started going to a Naturopath, I started looking into making some healthy choices in my food and doing more cooking myself, but perhaps more importantly looking around at the web for “alternative” sites for “the other side of the story”. Our “mainstream media” won’t give us “unapproved” stories about anything. We need to dig for the information we need and want.
Hopefully this movie will get enough exposure to get some more interest going in better, mor nutricious food!
In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government’s regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation’s food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. We have bigger-breasted chickens, the perfect pork chop, insecticide-resistant soybean seeds, even tomatoes that won’t go bad, but we also have new strains of E. coli—the harmful bacteria that causes illness for an estimated 73,000 Americans annually. We are riddled with widespread obesity, particularly among children, and an epidemic level of diabetes among adults. – Official Food, Inc. Movie Site – Hungry For Change? .
